Our Cattle

Beefmaster is the world's only beef breed evolved solely for beef making characteristics.

It's evolution began in South Texas in 1930.

In 1908, Tom Lasater's father introduced Zebu bulls into his Hereford and Shorthorn herds.

Experimenting with various combinations, Tom found the

three-way cross the best. From then on selection was based on nature's oldest law - survival of the fittest.

The Lasater Concept practiced continually for almost 60 years, was selection for 6 essentials -

Fertility

Weight Gain

Docility

Hardiness

Conformation

Milk Production.

He has culled ruthlessly to fix these six essentials in the breed.

One of the major innovations pioneered by Lasater was the introduction of cattle scales in 1936.
